Yes. Bahrain Medical Laboratory operates to recognised quality and safety standards. Our team includes qualified and experienced medical laboratory scientists, and we use certified diagnostic equipment from trusted international partners including Olympus. We follow established standard protocols to ensure every test result is accurate and dependable.
We serve both walk-in patients and doctor-referred patients. You do not need a doctor's referral to visit Bahrain Medical Laboratory and request most routine tests. However, for some specialised panels, a clinical referral or prescription may be required. Contact us if you are unsure — our team is happy to advise you before your visit.

CBC, thyroid function, and hormonal panels generally do not require fasting. When in doubt, fast from midnight before a morning appointment and confirm with our team when you book.
Blood collection at Bahrain Medical Laboratory is a quick, routine procedure performed by trained phlebotomists. Most patients feel only a brief, mild discomfort. The sample is typically drawn from a vein in the arm and takes under two minutes. For children or patients with difficult veins, our staff are experienced in alternative collection methods and will ensure a comfortable experience.
Yes, most routine tests — including cholesterol, thyroid, vitamin D, CBC, and kidney function — can be requested directly without a prescription. A small number of specialised or controlled tests may require a doctor's authorisation. Contact us in advance and we can confirm what is needed for your specific test request.
Receiving your results
3 questionsTurnaround time depends on the test type. Routine tests such as CBC and urine analysis are typically ready within 4–6 hours on the same day. Hormonal, immunology, and culture tests may take 24–48 hours. Specialised or send-out tests can take 3–5 business days. You will be notified when your results are ready.
Results are available for collection in person at the laboratory. We also notify patients by phone when results are ready. Please confirm your preferred contact method when registering. For doctor-referred patients, results can be sent directly to the referring clinic or physician upon request.
Our team can provide a general explanation of your results and reference ranges when you collect them. However, interpreting results in the context of your symptoms and medical history should always be done by your doctor or specialist. We strongly recommend sharing your results with your physician, especially if any values are outside the normal range.
